Movement for Labor
Movement for Labor
Traditional preparation for labor might include reading, childbirth courses, hopefully some movement, breathwork, and… not much else. As a Certified Body Ready Method Pro, Registered Prenatal and Postpartum Yoga Teacher and Certified Postpartum Doula, Rachel understands the anatomical and physiological importance of physical preparation and education before labor begins!
This 3-hour, in-home or virtual session includes:
Overview of previous pregnancies and births, injuries and physical activity to help identify patterns in your body
Comprehensive review of your physical well-being and patterns during your current pregnancy
Education on the 3 levels of the pelvis and how we can move the body in order to open them, and practicing the movements so they won’t feel foreign when you need them most - during labor!
Analysis of how you might be holding patterns of compensation in your body that might inhibit that vital movement, and more.
Homework assignments to get your body ready for a smooth labor and recovery! (This can happen on your own, in one-on-one sessions with Rachel, or by joining her group virtual or in-person prenatal classes.)
Helping crafting birth preferences, sharing endless prenatal and postpartum resources, and more.
During labor, it shouldn’t be solely your responsibility to remember all of the information we’ll cover in this session!! Our hope for this session is that you’re able to practice the movements so they’ll feel more natural when they’re needed, and, to educate the vital members of your birth team, including but not limited to your birth doula and/or your partner so they can remind you - when you’re a little busy!
